Atglen, PA, is a borough in Chester County (southeast Pennsylvania) and has a population of 1,406. Atglen covers a total of 0.9 square miles of land. It is served by the Octorara Area School District.
Atglen was officially incorporated in 1876, however, there had been residents and even a post office there since 1842.
In the 1830s, Atglen (then called Penningtonville) was an important stop on the Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad. In the early 1900s, the railroad in Atglen was expanded. It was called the A&S line (Atglen and Susquehanna) and was considered the premier freight line of the Pennsylvania Railroad.
